Allama Iqbal:

Sir Doctor Allama Muhammad Iqbal (r.a) was born on November 9, 1877 at Sialkot.  He is also known as “Poet of the East”, and “Qalandar-e-Lahore”.  Allama Iqbal is one of the most famous muslim poet, philosopher and politician.  He was entitled as hakeem-al-ummat because as like a “hakeem”(doctor in herbal medicine) examines disease and recommends medicine to a patient, just like that, allama Iqbal pointed out major causes of backwardness of Muslims living in Indian subcontinent specifically and in other parts of the world generally.  He also specified solutions for the problems being faced by “Muslim Ummah”.
