Aurat Foundation Pakistan

Aurat Foundation is the oldest organization of Pakistan that provides support to women and encourages them to participate in raising the economy of the country as well as groom them by providing them the education, confident building techniques etc. so that they can work side by side with men in Pakistan.

Since the old dark times, women are considered as the weak creatures that only have stick to the boundaries defined by her guardian. In such scenarios, mostly they are unable to fight for their basic rights and also become victims of the domestic violence. Parents do not prefer to send their girls to school as they think that girls are meant to involve in the house work and they do not need to be educated for that. Sometimes, taking benefit of the low confidence and the weakness of a girl, people try to harass her. These are women, who become victims of violence like rape, acid attack, divorces and blackmails.   

The society of Pakistan is unfortunately not supportive to women especially when it comes to the uneducated sector. Aurat foundation protects the women rights and makes them aware about their rights which are granted to them by religion and the constitution of Pakistan. They educate the women and provide them opportunities in which they can gain confidence, learn to acquire their rights and protect themselves while making progress and taking their own decisions in life.

Established in 1986, Aurat Publication and Information Service Foundation is a civil society organization committed to work for women’s empowerment and citizens’ participation in governance for creating a socially just, democratic and humane society in Pakistan. Over the last 26 years, Aurat Foundation has come to be recognized nationally and internationally as one of the leading institutions for enhancing women’s economic and political status in the country.

The main intentions and goals of the foundations are:
·         Assist women to acquire greater control over knowledge, resources and institutions.
·         Influence social attitudes and behavior for a sensitive and responsive social environment to address women's concerns and development.
·         Develop a strong network of civil society organizations to support women at the community and district level.
·         Undertake advocacy with public servants and public representatives for development policies and planning as well as supportive legislation that increases women's access to development opportunities and resources.
·         Facilitate women's greater participation in political processes and governance.
·         Develop and strengthen networks of citizens' organizations for strengthening citizens' struggle for accountable and transparent governance and participatory democracy in Pakistan.
