Amir liaqat

A top international research institution, the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, has recently included Dr. Amir Liaqat, an Islamic scholar of Pakistan, in a list of 500 most influential Muslim personalities, which is a great honor. The said research organization is a non-partisan entity affiliated with the international Islamic organization, Royal All AL bait Institute for Islamic Thought.
Terming him the most popular and influential anchor of the Islamic world, rather of the world, the book says climbing the ladders of popularity through the famous programme “Alim Online” Dr Amir had attained unprecedented grandeur amongst a large section of society through his unprejudiced thinking, forceful thought against corruption and immense love of the Prophet (PBUH).
 In the beginning, he was an important personality of the country, a member of the National Assembly and minister of state for religious affairs. However, in 2007 he resigned from his post and opted to serve religion.
Dr. Amir Liaqat Hussain was born in Karachi. His father Sheikh Liaquat was also a member of the National Assembly. He won a seat in 1997, after having joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 1994. As a host he had his first program on Geo Television Network. Later he devoted himself to religious and literary activities. He served more than eight years in GEO TV Networks but a point came where he had to leave the organization. Leaving such long association was indeed a painful step for him, he says
"The times in your life come when you have to take certain tough decision which breaks your heart but at the same time these steps have to be taken because the codes and principles are far more important than any materialistic thing in the world, and this is what happened, either I had to follow my codes and principles and to quit the organization or I had to compromise them and remain in the organization. But I chose the former, though it was not an easy task as some people believe GEO has given me name and fame and this is what I always regard but this time I give preference to my morality and rules which I have drawn keeping in my mind what my Allah (swt) and my religion says."
