Ramadan


Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. In this month the Muslims of all over the world perform fasting in the whole month according to the belief of Islam.  Fasting is one of the important and the essential pillar of the Islam. The month is based on 29 or 30 days depending upon the crescent moon.

The word Ramadan originates from the root of Arabic ar-ramad which means that dryness. The fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory for all the Muslim community except from few who are not well, are travelling. The fasting is become the obligatory in the month of Shaban after Muslims migrated to medina from Mecca after two years.

The duration of the fasting is from the azan of fajr to the azan of Magrib means from the Dawn to sunset. In this time Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink and smoke. They are also stopped to do sinful behavior for example insulting each other, backbiting, lying and from the cursing and also clogged from fighting. This month of Islam is full of blessings and the Muslims perform regular five prayers a day and recite the Quran during the fasting. After the end of the month Allah gives the gift of the Eid-al-Fitr to the Muslims.
