Garam Chashma Chitral, Pakistan - The Sulphur Water Spring

Chitral, the land of beauty and endowment, is also a land of gratifying treasures. LotKoh, the most beautiful place in Chitral, is located in the North West of Chitral, Northern Pakistan. The land which was considered as a touring spot has now become more of a place of healing the skin diseases. People wondered at the beauty of the people of Chitral. Well, here is the answer! The atmosphere of Chitral supports a natural mineral and vitamin balance in the skin, making the people of Chitral internally healthy and externally beautiful. However, the Garam Chashma of LotKoh, Chitral has now gained more importance for its uniqueness.

Garam Chashma or the hot spring is a spring of boiling hot water. It was discovered years before that the high temperature of the spring in extremely cold atmosphere of Chitral is because of the presence of sulphur in it, which transformed its name from Hot SPring to Sulphur Spring. The spring is located at 6100 feet elevation and can be reached by a 3 hour drive to the North West of Chitral. Although the distance between Chitral and Hot Spring is just 45 km, however, the dazzling but zig-zag roads developed by cutting the mountain edges make the journey difficult. While moving from Chiral to LotKoh in a jeep, the speculation of sky-high trees and flower covered herbs and small plants in between the finely cut brown mountains makes the journey an incredible memory.

The government of Pakistan has constructed proper bathrooms around the Hot Spring, for the convenience of the tourists. People from all over Pakistan come to take bath in the hot spring, which gives a motherly warmth in the freezing temperatures of Chitral. The water is now used for the treatment of skin diseases also. Doctors operating in the hospitals of Islamabad and Peshawar send their patients to Chitral to cure their skin diseases. The doctors say that it has been evidently proven that a bath in the hot spring brings visible positive changes in the skin disease.

The doctors experimented the efficiency of the hot spring and discovered that a 3 hour bath for 3 days can permanently cure the majority of skin diseases from the human skin. This miraculous discovery has added in the importance of the hot spring or the sulphur spring. The doctors have revealed that the bath is not much useful for the people aging between 15 to 25. However, the bath in hot spring is evidently very effective on the female skin.  People, who came for picnic purposes only, now essentially take part in the spring. However, there is a dire need of cleanliness and its maintenance in the spring.

Trout fishing is also common in the hot spring. The luxury hotels in Chitral are now arranging special sulphur baths, for which, water will be brought directly from the hot spring in insulated pipes so that the temperature can be maintained and the effects on the skin can remain equally beneficial.
