Quetta- Past and Now

Quetta – the past and now
Quetta is the capital of Baluchistan, the largest province of Pakistan. Back in old days, Quetta was famous for its peace, but wrecked in violence, the city has lost its claim to fame. Quetta is surrounded by mountains, which form a natural ‘fort’ – the name of the city itself originates from Kwatta, meaning fort in Pashto. To the north lies Zarghoon Mountain, Murdar in the East, Chiltan in the South and Takatu in the West. The urban center is multi-ethnic and multi-linguistic. For centuries, Quetta housed people of all ethnicities, religions and sects with an open heart.

The people residing here who were once the most welcoming and friendly nation has now became the victim of violence and complex. They have lost their confidence and count themselves among those who are not facilitated. They have forgotten to trust people and think everyone is there to hurt them. However, they are very loyal, positive and sincere towards their own tribe and province mates.

Just like other major cities, Quetta has gained importance as it contains many beauties, and recourses that can be utilized to take the country to the higher standards. Unfortunately, due to many political, economic and domestic problems, Quetta has remained an unfortunate city from the d3evelopmen point of view. The province Baluchistan shares the border with Afghanistan where many political conflicts reside and this is the reason Quetta has become an insecure place due to terrorism and violence.

Many extremists reside their and their leasers only tell the nation about the hated making them realize that they are not being provided with the facilities that the cities of other provinces are getting. There have been many plans to bring advancement t in Baluchistan. Government has taken many steps to improve the standards, build the schools, hospitals and many other facilities in the province. Quetta has always been the major focus of improvement as it the queen city of the province. With many museums, lakes, weather and sights that are extremely beautiful and worth to see.

Pakistan should be proud to have cities like Quetta that can be utilized if given care. The government and ministry of environment and tourism should pay attention to Quetta and make it a developed city that can represent a developed Pakistan.
